AXOLOTL is a collaboration, a studio project, a band and a live act. It was formed last year by Melbourne singer Ella Thompson when she teamed up with beats wizard ABLE, synthspert Dustin Mclean, school mate/bass prodigy James “Scoobie” Gilligan and drummer Leigh Fisher.
This group have all had their time playing in various bands and wood shedding at Melbourne’s Victorian College of the Arts, all contributing to their unique sound, which combines live instrumentation, electronic sounds and improvisation. Influenced by artists such Bjork, Grizzly Bear, Little Dragon, Radiohead and Flying Lotus.
They have just started to record their debut album, which will be self produced with the help of Washington producer/engineer John Castle. Keep your ears out for “Garden Lane’ the first single which will be released later this year.
