Melbourne’s Qua is essentially one man, Cornel Wilczek. His music began as dreamy electronic soundscapes in Adelaide, Australia, sometime last century. Fast forward to 2011 and we present the new Qua – heavy, danceable and as psychedelic as ever. Fusing techno sounds from a decade past, with bleeps and beats from a distant future, this new sound will culminate in an album to be released soon.
Qua has released albums on Mush Records (USA), Headz Records (Japan), Surgery Records (Australia) & Someone Good (Australia). He has toured internationally and become a regular on Australia’s gig and festival circuit.
In 2009, he opened his commercial sound studio in South Melbourne, “Electric Dreams”. Here, he has produced music for artists such as The Wagons, Clare Bowditch, Worlds End Press and PVT.
Wilczek has an Masters in Sound Art from RMIT, where he developed most of the software that is behind Qua. This unique software, gives Qua it’s own sound and leads to very live, gestural electronic performances.
